Joan C. Kunkel, 86, of Independence, formerly of Raytown, MO, passed away March 21, 2016.
Joan was born January 1, 1930, in St. Louis to Thomas and Kathryn Ahtipus. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cooking, and Royals baseball and was devoted to caring for her family. She married her husband, John, in 1956 until his passing in 2010. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette. She is survived by a sister, Laverne Armbruster, of Minnesota; daughters, Diane Holcomb of Warrensburg and Sarah Caldwell (Ron) of Blue Springs; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A private ceremony will be held for the family. The family would like to thank Villages of Jackson Creek Memory Care facility and Ascend Hospice for all of their care and support.
