Barbara "Bobbi" Jean Bates

Barbara Jean Bates, also known as Bobbi, passed away on October 15, 2023, at the age of 67 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She was born on December 24, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri. Bobbi was a beloved mother, grandmother and daughter.

Bobbi was a single mother of three, which she considered her primary occupation. She dedicated her life to raising her children and providing them with love and support. In addition to her role as mother, Bobbi was also the owner and operator of a private duty nursing business, specializing in caring for patients with Alzheimer’s disease. Her compassionate nature and dedication to her work touched the lives of many.

Bobbi is survived by her beloved sisters, Patty K. Cooper and Susie Williams. Bobbi is survived by her son, Sean M. Mahurin, and grandson Benjamin A. Mahurin. She is also survived by her son, Brett A. Mahurin (Catherine Mahurin) and her granddaughters, Madelyn S. Arnautov and Abigail C. Mahurin and grandson Reagan M. Mahurin. Bobbi’s daughter Patricia A. Alas and her grandson, Quentin A. Alas, as well as granddaughter Kaylee A. Alas, also survive her. She was preceded in death by her father, Max Bates and her beloved mother, Vera C. Bates.

A private viewing and family memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Longview Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 12700 SE Raytown Rd. Kansas City, Missouri 64119. The funeral home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Bobbi’s passing.

Bobbi will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her dedication to her work and her caring nature. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her soul rest in peace.
