Brenda Mears

Brenda Leigh Mears, 57, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on May 17, 2018 surrounded by her family. She is at peace after a two year battle with cancer.

Brenda was born September 25, 1960 in Macon, Missouri to Norma and Donald Teter and spent her youth in Callao, Missouri with her sister Bonnie (Teter) Guilfoyle. She married Curtis Mears on July 26, 1980.

She was Mom to Rachel (Mears) Taylor and Aaron Mears, and Grammy/Mae Mae to her grandchildren: Lilly, Ella, Graham, and Melody.

Brenda was happiest relaxing in the sunshine by the lake, cruising the Caribbean with Curtis, and spending time laughing and playing with her kids and grandkids. She was her family’s anchor and source of unconditional love and support throughout her life. She will be greatly missed, but forever in our hearts.

A visitation and memorial service will be held at Lee’s Summit Christian Church, 800 NE Tudor Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO on Tuesday, May 22nd. Visitation will begin at 2pm followed by service at 3pm. Memorial donations are suggested to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care or Women's Foundation for Cancer.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Shoup and staff at Shawnee Mission Cancer Center, Kansas City Hospice House, and all of Brenda’s extended family and friends for their thoughts, prayers, and support during this trying time.
