Christine Ann Myers (née O’Brien), age 63, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, was called to Heaven on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
Christy is survived by her loving husband, Steve; her children, Trent (Laura) Myers, Cierra (Johnny) Van Eaton, Julia (Jim) Pace, and Max Myers; her sisters, Debbie (Tim) and Kelly (Greg); her brother, Pat; and her cherished grandchildren, Henry and Conor Myers, and James and Asher Van Eaton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mary O’Brien.
Christy graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Independence, Missouri. She met her future husband, Steve, while they were both working as servers at Stephenson’s Restaurant. They were married on September 10, 1983, and together built a beautiful life in Lee’s Summit, raising four children and sharing nearly 43 years of marriage. Christy and Steve traveled the world together, always seeking new adventures. They had planned to visit their 50th state, Alaska, later this month.
Christy embraced every opportunity to explore, travel, and experience the world around her. Whether she was visiting a new destination or simply spending time with the people she loved, she found joy in life’s moments and inspired others to do the same. More than anything, Christy loved her four children and four grandchildren. She always saw the very best in them—encouraging them, believing in them, and celebrating their successes. Her love was unconditional, and her pride in her family was evident to everyone who knew her. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel valued, supported, and loved.
For 38 years, Christy served the community through her work at St. Mary’s Hospital in X-ray, Interventional Radiology, Mammography, and Breast Patient Navigation. She was a source of comfort, guidance, and compassion for countless women navigating breast cancer, offering support through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. She helped coordinate appointments, surgeries, and reconstructive care, ensuring that her patients never felt alone. When a patient lacked a support system, Christy often became one herself, even accompanying them to appointments.
One grateful patient wrote to Human Resources on her behalf:
"Christy is—in a word—WONDERFUL! St. Mary’s is very fortunate to have Christy on its staff, and it is my hope that she is appreciated for the wonderful work that she does. Please accept my thanks for providing me with such a dedicated, thoughtful person to assist me through this medical situation. All of your staff members have been very knowledgeable and helpful, but Christy has been outstanding."
At only 63 years old, Christy was taken from us suddenly and far too soon. We were not ready to say goodbye, our hearts ache with the loss of years and memories we thought we would still have together. Even in our grief, we are profoundly grateful for the time we shared with her and for the countless memories she leaves behind. Christy’s spirit, kindness, and love will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She will be remembered for her adventurous heart, her generous soul, and the deep and enduring love she gave so freely.
The family extends tremendous and heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional nursing staff of the Telemetry Intensive Care Unit at St. Luke’s North Hospital, who provided a peaceful, compassionate environment during Christy’s transition from this life to the next.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church (130 NW Murray Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081) on Wednesday, June 17th. There will be a saying of the rosary at 9:45 a.m., visitation from 10-11 a.m. and the Funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m., with Father Tom presiding. Services will conclude at the church.
A luncheon and gathering will follow at the family home.
Memorial donations can be made in Christy’s name to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
