Lee's Summit

Craig Alan Tegenkamp, affectionately known as “Tego” and "Papa T" passed away on May 1, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on August 27, 1960, Tego was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose larger-than-life personality left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him.

Tego was celebrated for his unique and special relationships with everyone around him; he was the very glue of his close-knit group of golf friends. He was a well known and well-loved member of Lakewood Oaks Country Club and had previously been a member of the golf club at Creekmoor. Despite a tough exterior, Tego was known to be a teddy bear at heart, embodying the motto of “work hard, play hard.”

Those who were fortunate to share in his life described him as having a silly disposition infused with a big personality. He was a man who loved deeply and lived large, embodying a caregiver's spirit. Tego’s zest for life was reflected in his passion for food, amusingly noted by family members that this love did not extend to vegetables. Sunday mornings in particular are fondly remembered as Tego took it upon himself to prepare a big breakfast, a gesture that was both a testament to his love for food and the joy he found in bringing people together.

Tego is survived by his loving wife, Jill Tegenkamp, and his children, Matthew (Michelle), Marcus (Ashley), Marlee (Adam) Zoellner, and stepdaughter Megan Underwood. He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Brayden, Nolan, Emery, Peyton, Lucas, and Cameron. Tego is also survived by his sister Crystal Tegenkamp, brother Scott Tegenkamp, and his nephew Evan Tegenkamp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Marilyn (Dettro) Tegenkamp, whose impact on his life and values shaped the person he became.

A visitation in honor of Craig Alan Tegenkamp (Tego)  will be held on May 9, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, both taking place at Longview Funeral Home located at 12700 SE Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO, 64149.

Tego will forever be remembered not only for his vibrant personality and caring nature, but also for the love he held for his family and friends. His legacy of joy, laughter, and kindness will continue to brighten the lives of those who knew him. May he now win every 30-yard dash without injury.
