Doris Mae Hixon, 88, of Belton, passed away April 14, 2020. A private burial will be held in Ash Grove, Missouri, with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Friends of Children Everywhere http://foce.harnessapp.com/wv2/
Doris was born on January 16, 1932 in Ash Grove, the ninth of ten children born to Robert and Martha (Gilmore) Beck. She attended school in Ash Grove, where she was on the cheerleading team. Her early career was as a telephone switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell in Springfield before she married and became a homemaker, raising her family with her husband. Doris was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church in Belton. She also enjoyed collecting lamps and “antique-ing”.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard, of 61 years; all nine of her siblings; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law. She is survived by her two daughters, Kelley Hixon of Ash Grove, and Beth Hixon of Belton; a granddaughter, Brooke McCarty; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
