With loving hearts, we celebrate the life of Ella Ruth Van Trece, who departed this physical plane on July 6, 2026, at the age of 78.
Ella was born November 27, 1947, in Kansas City,Kansas to Ruth L. and Charles L. Scott. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and was known for her faith, strength, humor and capacity to love.
She attended and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965 and later completed a degree in Early Childhood Development from Penn Valley Community College. She adored all children alike, spreading joy during holidays and dressing up as Santa Claus for many years. Her compassion for kids spread as she would often have camping trips with the children in her neighborhood.
Ella married the love of her life, Oliver W. Van Trece Jr. on October 10, 1964. She found great joy in spending time with family and friends and her hobbies and interests included softball, good music, baking, dancing and writing beautiful poetry. She enjoyed family game nights (though some may say "cheated at") and was a faithful member of church; her life was a reflection of her faith and dedication to sharing her light with those around her.
Ella leaves to cherish her memory to her siblings: Charlene Stigler, Jimmy Scott (Linda), Allene Abd'Allah, George Gordon (Melanie) and Lorenzo Scott. Her warmth and love extended to her entire family, which includes a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Charles Scott.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her legacy lives on through those she shared her love, passions and kindness with, and will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
