Esther Dixon

Esther Ruth Dixon, 91, of Holden, Missouri passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday December 2, 2022. Esther was born in Newtown, Missouri on June 8, 1931, to Marion and Stella Hostetter.

Esther moved to Kansas City to live with her sister when she was 18 and began working for Knievel's luggage. Through a friend she met and Married Wallace Griffin on June 30, 1950. After marriage and several years later, she left the luggage company and began working at Meyer’s Optical. After the passing of her husband Wallace their lifelong friend Doyle Dixon was a companion for Esther, and they were later married in September 3, 1971. Esther finished her working years before retirement at Calmar Manufacturing. After retirement she went to help her family at the family-owned greenhouse Country Meadows till 2006. Esther enjoyed working and staying active with fishing and gardening, playing cards and bingo. All of that was special but spending time with her family was her world, she loved spoiling her grandson and his daughter.

Esther is preceded in Death by her parents Marion & Stella (Dawson) Hostetter, her first and second husbands Wallace Griffin and Doyle Dixon, her brothers Truman, Garner and RJ Hostetter as well as her sisters Roberta Hancock, Doris Biggs, and Jeanette Pearson. She is survived by her Daughter Teresa Ward, Son-in-law Stan Ward, Grandson Wallace Ward, Granddaughter-in-law Crystal Ward, and her great granddaughter Gracie Ward. Esther will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services for Esther will be in the care of Longview Funeral Home 12700 SE Raytown Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64149 on Tuesday December 6, 2022, with visitation at 10AM followed by Funeral at 11AM. Final interment will be Floral Hills East Cemetery.
