She was also a proud member of Phi Delta Kappa sorority, the National Honor Society, and the Civil Air Patrol. Throughout her lifetime, she was recognized for her dedication to education and was honored as Teacher of the Year.

On March 6, 2025, Geneva was called home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, D.J. Gilmore Sr. and Emma Hogue, and her brother, Larry James Reedus.
