Glennie Louise Reeder, 83, of Independence, MO, passed away on September 1st, 2025.
Glennie was born to Walter and Ruhama Hall (Bentz) in Windsor, MO. She attended grade school in Windsor, MO. At the age of 11 they moved to the family farm in Calhoun, MO, and she graduated from Calhoun High School in 1959. She was active in 4-H, Rainbow Girls, cheerleading and a member of the Calhoun Baptist Church.
Glennie was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Independence, MO. She served on the usher team and enjoyed spending time with her many church friends. Glennie was an avid reader and always had a book to lend. She enjoyed working in her yard, her flowers were stunning, and doing puzzles. Her greatest joy was being a mom, grandma and great-grandma. She never came empty-handed, treats were her thing! Glennie planned special holidays for her family. There was always a holiday craft at Thanksgiving. She enjoyed shopping for Christmas all year long and stashing gifts away. She loved to look for a bargain and go thrifting or to garage sales. She worked for many years in the banking industry before retiring in 2003.
She is survived by her children, Christina Bradley Smitka (John), Kevin Bradley, Kimberly Bradley Ekern (Kirk); eight grandchildren, Andrew Smitka (Cody), Kyle Smitka, Nolan Bradley (Laurna), Wyatt Bradley, Klaira Ekern, Kamden Ekern, Karsten Ekern, Kellen Ekern, and three great-granddaughters, as well as stepchildren Kim Hillman, David Reeder, and Karen Blado.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin D. Reeder.
Graveside service will be at Longview Cemetery on Thursday, September 4th at 3:00 p.m.
