Obituary

Jacob Allen Harbit, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on September 7, 2026. He was born on January 13, 2000, in Independence, Missouri.

Jacob will be remembered as a humorous, kind, and family-centered man whose presence brought warmth and laughter to those around him. From the time he was a little boy, he had a playful spirit. He loved putting on goofy dances for his mother to make her laugh, and she was the light of his world. He also enjoyed drawing in a notebook, playing video games, and riding his bike, carrying that same lively energy and creativity with him throughout his life.

He found joy in many interests, including building with Legos, playing Skyrim, and collecting geodes. Jacob also had a deep passion for MMA fighting. He loved competing, and winning his first fight was one of his proudest accomplishments. Dedicated to his training, he would practice at night under a street lamp, shadow boxing with determination and heart. As a member of the Caveman Crew, he found support and encouragement in pursuing that dream.

Jacob worked in maintenance at a nursing home, where his compassion shone brightly. He loved the residents and treated them with tenderness and humor, comforting them and making jokes just to see them smile. He also did tree work, bringing the same hardworking spirit to all he did.

Above all, Jacob was proud to be a father to his two beautiful girls. That role meant the world to him and stood among the accomplishments he held closest to his heart.

He is survived by his mother, Crystal Harbit; his honorary step-father, Larry Zucca; his grandfather, Brian Stapleton; his grandmother, Teresa Jones; his father, Donald Harbit; his brothers, Gage Harbit, Jack Harbit, and Al Harbit; and his daughter, Esmae Harbit. Each of them carries forward memories of his humor, his kindness, and the love he gave so freely.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlotte (Charlie) Harbit, whose memory remained forever a part of his life and heart.
