James E. Anderson Jr., 80, of Grandview, Missouri, met the Lord on March 16, 2024. After being in and out of the hospital over the last few months, he died peacefully at Belton Regional Medical Center.
Jim was born on December 27, 1943 in East St. Louis, Illinois to James and Marcella Anderson. He married Judy, his junior high sweetheart in 1964. After graduating from the University of Missouri Rolla in 1967, he took his first job as a mechanical engineer at Bendix in Kansas City. He worked far past his expiration date, but remained committed to the company until retirement.
Jim was a member of Grace Church of Overland Park for over 20 years. He served as an usher during his time there. Jim was into Formula 1 racing and all things Mercedes, as well as being a long time drummer and devoted Rolling Stones fan. He was also an avid collector of unique time pieces, though despite having numerous watches, he still struggled with getting anywhere on time. You could often find Jim enjoying a meal at TJ’s Cafe, where the staff looked after him and treated him like family.
Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife Judy, as well as his parents James and Marcella Anderson. He is survived by his children Terri Brisciano (Chris) and Michael Anderson (Shalisse), his grandchildren Austin, Dylan, and Emma Anderson, Zachary Brisciano, and his younger brother Gene Anderson.
There will be a small graveside service held on Friday March 22 at 2:00 at Longview Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri. The family would like to thank the staff at Belton Regional Medical Center as well as Harbor Hospice. They will be forever grateful to Angelica in ICU for the kindness and exceptional care she provided to Jim. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Harbor Hospice or a charity of your choosing.
