Jean Kobel

Jean Kobel, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 21, 2019. She was born on July 15, 1941 in Kansas City, KS to Robert and Helen Wallace.

She worked as a registered nurse and retired after 50 years. Jean was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and previously served on the board for the preschool. She really looked forward to going on outings and being a chaperone with the children. Jean enjoyed cross-stitching, scrapbooking, photography, and reading her bible. Jean also had a love for strawberries, and not only eating them. She had a lot of things that had strawberries on them: salt and pepper shakers just to name one.

Jean met her husband Dale through his family member and they were married 57 years. They had the relationship we all wish we had: honest, caring, loving, and fun. She was a loving mother of three, grandmother of 6, and great grandmother of 4. Family was her everything and she will be greatly missed by everyone, especially by her best friend of 74 years, Claudia MacKay. They became friends at age 4 and always considered each other family. It is not often you have a friendship that lasts 74 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Helen Wallace; brother, Larry Wallace; daughter-in-law, Kaci Kobel; and great-granddaughter, Finley Smith.

Jean is survived by her husband, Dale; children, Gary (Beth) Kobel, Tami (Pat) Hull, Darren (Stephanie) Kobel; siblings, Bill (Julie) Wallace, Bob (Sonny) Wallace, Mike (Mary) Wallace, Patti (Woody) Cole, David (Dana) Wallace, Judi (Tim) Nydeggar, Bob (Stephanie) Kobel, and Lois (David) Dick; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24 from 6-8 PM at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 700 NE Chipman Rd, Lee's Summit, MO 64063. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 25, also at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery, 12700 SE Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO 64149.
