He graduated from Lees Summit High School in 1965, and his enduring service to the city as an equipment operator was marked by dedication and pride. He took comfort in the honest labor of his days, ensuring that his community thrived, and always greeted his coworkers with a ready smile and an encouraging word.

In 1972, fate and mutual friends brought Jerry together with the love of his life. A year later, they were married, embarking on a journey side by side that would span over five decades. Their bond was marked by deep affection, understanding, and shared joy—a testament to a partnership built on trust and laughter.

Family meant everything to Jerry. He is survived by his beloved wife, three devoted sons, four granddaughters and three grandsons, who were a continual source of pride and happiness, three great-grandchildren and three bonus great grandkids whose bright spirits brought an extra twinkle to his eye in these last years. Together, they formed the center of his world, each gathering filled with stories, laughter, and unconditional love.

Jerry’s roots ran deep, but he also bore the bittersweet weight of loss. He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Renfro, his mother, Mary Renfro, four siblings. Their memories lived on in his stories, in his quiet moments, and in the loving way he guided the generations that followed.

Outside of his work and family life, Jerry delighted in the simple pleasures that made each day meaningful. He was a passionate hunter in his younger days, and as the years passed, he grew particularly fond of animals, especially dogs, who could often be found by his side or following him down a familiar fishing path. Old country music flowed through his heart and home, its melodies a backdrop to many treasured moments. Fishing provided peace and excitement alike, while a well-loved baseball game always held his interest—another opportunity to share time with family and friends.
