Jill Walter

September 5, 1979 — April 1, 2016

Jill Marcia Walter, 36, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away suddenly on April 1, 2016. Jill was born on September 5th, 1979.  She graduated from Lindenwood University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.  Most recently she worked as a medical coder for HCA at Lee’s Summit Hospital, where she frequently brightened up the office with colorful signs and her sunny smile.  She enjoyed photography and organizing family celebrations, and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.  Jill was very involved in serving her church community.  In her work on the media team, she sought to find the pictures God wanted to be captured, rather than the most artistic or complex ones. Jill didn’t seek to be heard but to listen to others. Throughout the day, she reached out to friends and family, sending encouraging messages and often sharing a song or Scripture to bless them. In her joyful spirit of encouragement, she would often pray “Shalom” over those she loved—which were many.

She is survived by parents: Jack and Jan Walter and James and Dawn Austwick: siblings: Dianne (Ted) Fugitt, Andy (Tonya) Walter, Jennifer (Larry) Laporte, Julie (Elgin) LaStrape; nieces and nephews: Jackie (Jon) Carleton, Ben Fugitt, Magali, Alyse and Matthieu Laporte, Hayley McSparin, Hayden Quitmeyer, J.W. and Ashlyn LaStrape; as well as, many other relatives and close friends. Jill’s love for people extended to many heart-adopted grandparents, parents, siblings and nieces and nephews.

Jill suffered a lot of restrictions and pain throughout her life but carried it with such grace that few knew all that she went through. We were all extremely blessed to have had such a wonderful woman in our lives.

Visitation and viewing will be on Thursday, April 7th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Longview Funeral Home, 12700 S. Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO 64149.  Funeral services will be held at Libby Lane Academy, 601 NW Libby Lane, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063 on Friday April 8th, at 11:00 a.m.  Memorial donations are suggested to ministries that were very important to Jill, World Revival School of Ministry for a scholarship in Jill’s honor or Disciples Fellowship Native American Toy drive  http://www.nativeamericantoydrive.com.
