Mrs. Jill Wilcox

February 17, 1958 — July 3, 2010

Jill Ann Wilcox (formerly Dujakovich), 52, of Grandview, MO, died July 3, 2010, at Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be July 7 at 5 p.m. at Longview Funeral Home, 12700 Raytown Road, Kansas City, MO, with the memorial service immediately following at 6 p.m. Jill wished to be cremated and a memorial plaque will be placed in the rose garden at the Longview Cemetery. A light meal will be served at Grandview Community Center afterwards for those who wish to reminisce a bit longer with the family.

Jill was born in Kansas City on Feb. 17, 1958, to R. Gordon and Lucille Haffa. She grew up in the house in south Kansas City where her son Shawn’s family now lives, and some of the neighbors became like family and have remained so to this day. Growing up, she attended St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, and later in life attended Hickman Mills Community Christian Church for some time. After graduating from Ruskin High School she married Kevin Dujakovich in 1977, and they had three children. She was married to Elmer (Dave) Wilcox from 2004 until his death in September, 2009. Jill had a variety of jobs throughout her life, but she particularly enjoyed being a travel agent and ended up going on about a dozen cruises. Her main focus, however, was on her children and more recently, her grandchildren. Raising her children as a single mother, Jill was always involved, as PTA room mother, Girl Scout leader, leader of the “Jolly Jill’s” Junior Garden Club, band parent, dance recitals, and sports activities with her sons. With a soft spot for animals, Jill rescued unwanted or abandoned animals and always had dogs and cats as members of her household. Jill enjoyed bowling on a league and playing bunco. Jill was known for being very generous; although she rarely had much “extra,” if she ever did, she shared it.

Jill was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother James Michael Haffa, and her husband Dave. She is survived by her three children, Shawn Dujakovich (and wife Angela & their daughter Grace), Holly Pack (and fiancé Adam Dill and Holly’s daughter Taylor and Adam’s three children, Tyler, Alec, and Emily) and Ben Dujakovich (and Nicole Roberts and their two twin boys, Devon and Izac.) All of her children live in the Kansas City area. She will also be missed by her sister Sue Davison and her family, as well as other close family members and friends.

Jill asked that any memorials be directed to Kansas City Hospice House, where she received such attentive care during the last few weeks of her life. Her family asks you to help in the fight against pancreatic cancer by going to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s website at www.pancan.org and watching for opportunities to help in the future.
