Jim Chapman

Aaron James Chapman (Jim), 86, passed away peacefully at the John Knox Village Care Center, Lee’s Summit, MO on March 30, 2024. He was born in Parsons, KS on July 4, 1937 to the late Albert and Elsie Chapman and was later joined by two younger sisters, Colleen Greenlee and Patricia Chapman, who pre-deceased him.

In 1955, he married his childhood sweetheart Linda Faye Cook and they had 56 wonderful years of marriage before Linda passed away in 2014. They lived a full life together, travelling and raising their children. Jim served in the U. S. Army and Army Reserves from 1951-56 where he earned the rank of Sergeant. He went on to become successful in sales and sales management beginning his career at Sears Roebuck followed by Zenith Distributing, Doolittle Equipment, RSI Distributing and finishing his career in industrial tool sales.

He lived life with a positive, caring attitude and a competitive spirit.  Jim played multiple sports at Parsons High School.  As an adult, he enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer. He was a sports fanatic who loved his Kansas University Jayhawks (especially basketball), The Kansas City Chiefs and the Royals. He regularly attended his grandchildren’s sports events and was a proud grandpa. He loved to cook and barbeque with Linda. Jim’s many friends and colleagues throughout the years all agree that he knew how to have a good time.

Jim is survived by his son, Mark Chapman (Laurel Chapman) of Leawood, KS, daughter Lisa Chapman Meullen (Norman Meullen) of Vonore, TN, and two grandchildren Cole Chapman of Oklahoma City, OK and Claire Chapman of Kansas City, MO.
