Jonathan P. Reimann
July 23, 1970 - March 21, 2025
Jon was born on July 23, 1970, in Rome, New York, to Kaye and Rene Reimann, Jr. The youngest of three kids, he grew up loving Hot Wheels, Matchbox cars, and all things Tonka. His love of everything on wheels continued as he got older, spreading to Mongoose dirt bikes, motorcycles, cars, trucks, and lawn and construction equipment – basically anything with wheels and/or an engine.
Jon graduated from Grandview Senior High and attended Metropolitan Community College-Longview for two years, where he earned an automotive certification. If you knew Jon, you knew he loved to work on cars and trucks, and he was damn good at that. We can’t count the number of engines he helped pull from friends’ cars or the vehicles he wrenched on over the years. He had several truck projects in the works, including restoring a 1947 pickup he found in rural western Kansas.
Jon’s love of building began with Legos and Lincoln Logs, and his mom thought he’d be an engineer or an architect. He’d create an amazing structure and then take it apart and build something equally as cool. In elementary school, he constructed a Valentine’s Day mailbox that was so elaborate, he was disqualified from competition when his teacher accused him of having help from an adult. Before he passed, Jon had designed a home and had been building it mostly by himself from the foundation up.
Never one for a desk job, Jon worked for several local landscaping companies before moving into the trucking/construction industry. Jon liked showing pictures of his handiwork, like backing a 30-foot trailer between two fence posts with about six inches to spare on each side. His work ethic was top-notch, and he won multiple safe driver awards and bonuses over the years – which is ironic, considering how many times he evaded the Grandview police in his youth while driving his Chevelle, IROC-Z, or other vehicle.
Jon was funny and kind. He’d lend a helping hand and never asked for anything in return (although he appreciated a payment of homemade cookies). He’d drop by his mom’s with Russell Stover chocolates just because he knew she loved them.
Heartbroken by his loss are his mother, Kaye Reimann; brother, Ray (Jenny); sister, Missy (Lee Mah); nieces Sarah (Zac), Emily (Kevin), and Jane (Shawn); aunts Amy, Marty, and Susan; uncle, Rich; and cousins Eric, Larry, Rusty, Becky, and Jenny. Jon leaves 10 great-nephews and nieces whom he adored: Zac, Jakob, Scarlett, Franky, Paisley, Skylar, Shawn II, George, Evelyn, and Emmett. Jon also leaves behind “the Sycamore gang”: Troy, Missy 2, Chris, Darren, Tony, Mike, and Matt, and the other Two Amigos, Sean Mo (Brenda) and Chad (Miranda), plus numerous other friends and former co-workers.
