Laura Dengler

December 24, 1952 — July 14, 2014

Laura Ann Dengler, 61, passed away July 14, 2014 with her family and friends by her side.
As the daughter of an Air Force Colonel, Laura was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on December 24, 1952. She was her mother, Catherine and father, Rodger’s Christmas Eve baby. Growing up in the military, Laura lived in Bermuda, New York City, and Arizona before her family settled in Grandview, MO. Laura graduated from Grandview High School in 1970.
Laura spent the majority of her professional career as a print room technician for Children International. Her supervisor described her as the hardest working professional he had the privilege to know. Her selflessness and strong work ethic won her many accolades such as, Employee of the Year and the WOW award.
Much of Laura’s life was centered around her love for her great nephew, Dustyn. He was the most important person in her life. Although Laura was battling an aggressive cancer, she was determined to live long enough to see him graduate from high school, and she did just that. They had an amazing bond. Dustyn considered Laura his “Rock”.
Laura is survived by her sister, Candy Magness, niece, Stacey N. Schultz and husband Tim, and great-nephew, Dustyn Schultz.
Laura’s life will be celebrated Thursday, July 17 at Longview Funeral Home, 12700 S. Raytown Rd. KCMO. Visitation and gathering will be from Noon to 1:00 PM with services at 1:00 PM and interment in Longview Cemetery to follow.
