Lincoln was born and passed peacefully in his mother’s arms on December 8th, 2023. He weighed 2 pounds 11.2 ounces and was 16 inches long.
Lincoln brought family and friends together and touched so many lives in his brief time. We could feel all the love, excitement, and hope surrounding him. We are so grateful to the family and friends who gathered together at his gender reveal party and to everyone who continuously checked in on us and helped us prepare for him.
As ultrasounds first revealed him as a tiny dot, a peanut, and over months a little one with the cutest nose, we began to prepare a place for him in our hearts. Lincoln always made the ultrasound technicians chase him around and we joked the family better get their tennis shoes ready. He really showed off for family in one ultrasound where we got to see him stretch, flip, hiccup, suck his thumb, and even grab his little toes. Lincoln filled us with wonder, awe, and hope for the future.
Little Lincoln’s life has changed us and has given us an everlasting love to hold on to.
Lincoln was preceded in death by his grandma Sharon Thummel.
Lincoln is survived by his parents Andy Thummel and Jessica Roth; grandparents Bernard Thummel, John and Rebecca Roth; siblings Ethan Thummel, Kayla Blanton, Autumn Thummel, Embry Thummel, uncle Travis (Megan) Roth; aunts Dawna (Sandra Jordan) Thummel, Jodi Morgan; cousins Breanna Higginson, Audrey Roth.
The precious life of baby Lincoln will be celebrated with visitation services on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM at Longview Funeral Home, located at 12700 SE Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO 64149.
Our greatest comfort came in the form of a “Caring Cradle” which allowed us to have more time with Lincoln, to bond, to say goodbye and to grieve with him in our hospital room.
In honor of Lincoln, we are donating a Caring Cradle to an area hospital with the hope it provides comfort to other families. For anyone who would like to contribute to this: https://www.gofundme.com/f/lincoln-joseph-roththummel
