Mary Margaret Armstrong, born on June 14, 1940, in Forbes, Missouri, to the late Dennis and Lena Hickman, passed away on July 2, 2023, in Belton, Missouri. She was a loving and gentle soul with a big heart who touched the lives of all who knew her.
Mary spent her life working alongside her beloved husband Noel. Together they built a strong partnership and faced life's challenges with unwavering determination. Their dedication and commitment were an inspiration to everyone around them.
As a young woman, Mary graduated from Paseo High School as part of the Class of 1958. She cherished her time there and made lifelong friends who remained dear to her heart until the end.
In addition to her work and studies, Mary had many hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She had an insatiable appetite for reading Stephen King novels and the thrill of his stories always kept her captivated. Mary also cherished the time she spent going out to eat with friends, sharing laughter and good food. Crossword puzzles were another favorite pastime of hers, allowing her to exercise her mind while having fun. Her greatest interest in life was her son David. He was her world.
Mary was preceded in death by her devoted husband Noel Armstrong Jr., whom she loved deeply until his last breath. She was also preceded in death by her parents Dennis and Lena Hickman, as well as two brothers: Kenneth Hickman and Forrest Hickman. Family was at the heart of Mary's world. She is survived by her loving son, David Armstrong, who was the pride and joy of her life. Mary also leaves behind her sister Ruth Brumley, who supported and stood by her side through thick and thin. She will be fondly remembered by many extended family and friends. Mary Margaret Armstrong will forever be remembered as a kind-hearted, friendly, and sociable individual. Her warm smile and compassionate nature touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
To honor Mary's memory and celebrate her remarkable life, visitation services will be held at Longview Funeral Home in Kansas City on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will take place immediately afterward at the same location from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Mary's final resting place will be at Longview Cemetery in Kansas City, where the burial ceremony will begin at 2:00 PM and conclude around 2:15 PM.
