Obituary

Mary Frances Grey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, in Lees Summit, Missouri. Born on June 26, 1934, in Neodesha, Kansas, Mary was the cherished daughter of Oliver and Golden (Borlace)McClure. She grew up surrounded by the warmth of her family, creating a foundation of love and compassion that would be the hallmark of her life.

Mary's educational journey culminated with her graduation from high school in the Class of 1952 in Neodesha, Kansas. Early in her life, she met her late ex-husband, Eddie M. Gray, while roller skating in Coffeyville. Their paths intertwining marked the beginning of a journey filled with memories that would shape the essence of who she was. She later in life had her three beautiful children, Cheri, Kris, and Kevin.

For 28 dedicated years, Mary worked at AT&T Technologies in Lees Summit, where she not only contributed her professional skills but also invested her heart into making a difference through her volunteer work with the Pioneers Club Charity. Her role within the organization exemplified her commitment to serving others, and it was a testament to her sweet and lovable nature, which endeared her to all who knew her.

Mary was a woman of many passions. She found joy in gardening, nurturing her plants with the same love and care she extended to her family. Antiquing was another of her favorite pastimes; exploring the past through cherished items brought her a sense of delight and discovery. She had an undeniable sweet tooth for chocolate, often sharing this love with those close to her.

She is preceded in passing by her parents, Golden and Oliver McClure, and son Kevin Grey.

Mary is survived by her devoted children, Cheri (Roger), Kris (Patty), and daughter-in-law Barbara, who are all left to carry on her legacy of warmth and kindness. Her grandchildren, Keith, Laura, Neal, Kyle, and Claire, along with her great-grandchildren, Leila, Kolten, and Bryce, will forever remember their grandmother’s gentle spirit and loving heart. Her sister, Florence Kammerer, stands as a testament to their shared moments, forging a bond that will resonate through the memories they cherished. She is also survived by so many loving nieces, nephews and family that were so endearing to her

Though she has departed from this earthly realm, the love and memories of Mary Frances Grey will continue to flourish within the hearts of her family and friends. As they gather to celebrate her life, her spirit will be warmly remembered in their shared laughter, gardening tips, and the bittersweet taste of chocolate.

The visitation will take place on January 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Longview Funeral Home in Kansas City. Following this, a burial service will commence at 12:00 PM. We invite all who knew Mary to join in honoring her life and legacy during this time. Food that Mary loved having in life will be provided during the visitation to share with all who have known her.
