Mrs. Pamela Stead

December 24, 1955 — October 9, 2013

Pamela Jane Stead
December 24th 1955-October 9th 2013

Pamela was born at Walton Hospital in Liverpool on Christmas Eve in 1955, the first of three daughters born to Jean and John Hill. She was educated at several schools around Merseyside before attending Harrogate Ladies College, a boarding school in Yorkshire. The last few years of high school were spent at Merchant Taylors School for Girls in Crosby. In 1974 she joined the School of Nursing at the Royal Liverpool Children's Hospital, graduating as both a registered general and children's nurse in 1977.

In 1976 Pamela and Laurie were married and went on to have three daughters of their own; Joanna, Sarah and Helen. In 1980 Pamela and Laurie bought a pig farm in Cornwall, then in 1986 moved with the family to Devon. Here Pamela established her own nursing agency, Devon Care, and built this into the largest nursing agency in South West England. Devon Care was sold in 1996 prior to moving the family to Kansas City a year later to join Shiloh Ministries, and when the International House of Prayer started, Pamela and Laurie became increasingly involved. Pamela used her nursing experience to develop a community care program within IHOP, becoming its director. She remained the Director of Community Care until the day she died.

Pamela believed her greatest achievements in life to be her three daughters and three grandsons of whom she was incredibly proud, and her 37 year marriage to Laurie. She is preceded in death by her mother, Jean Hill. She is survived by her loving husband Lawrence of Kansas City, her three daughters Joanna (Greg) Shailes of Frome, UK, Sarah (Bradford) Wallace of Grandview, Missouri and Helen (Curtis) Bentz of Knoxville, Tennessee. Her three grandsons: Harry Shailes, Douglas Wallace and Calum Wallace. Her father John Hill of Liverpool, her two sisters Elizabeth (John) Hindmarsh of Market Drayton, United Kingdom, and Caroline (Mark) Scott of Sydney, Australia.

A special thanks to all doctors, nurses and all health care professional that so lovingly and professionally cared for Pamela over the last three years.
