Richard (“Dick”) Coke, 87, of Raytown, MO, passed away March 24, 2026, at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, MO. Dick was born to George and Margaret (Owens) Coke on August 16, 1938, in Horton, KS. He enjoyed many adventures growing up in Southern California, including roller skating on the roof of the Baptist church with his brother Ron, a story that never failed to entertain his children and grandchildren.

While serving in the United States Air Force, Dick met the love of his life, Marian Buck. They were married on June 23, 1962. Over their 44 years together, they enjoyed traveling, playing games, and being active in their church. Dick worked in the grocery business, and he was a longtime member of Raytown Christian Church.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife Marian. He is survived by two sons and their wives, Mark and Lynn Coke of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Kenneth and Pamela Coke of Berthoud, CO; two grandchildren, Anna and Richard; a brother Ron, who followed him in death the next day; a brother George Rex; and a sister, Peggy.

When asked if he had any advice for those of us left here on earth, he replied, “Get home safely.” We wish the same for you, Dad.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by services at 2:00 PM and burial on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Dick by showing kindness to others, performing a random act of kindness, or donating to a local food pantry, Meals on Wheels, John Knox Hospice Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
