SMSGT Robert “Bob” Beason, 85, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2016 after a lengthy illness.
Bob was born on September 18, 1931, in Marion, Indiana to Clifford Beason and Gertrude Isabel (Cook) Beason. Upon graduation, in 1949, from Anderson High School in Anderson, Indiana, he entered into the United States Air Force, spending the next 28 years in faithful service to our country. During the majority of his time in the USAF, Bob served as an Air Traffic Controller and completed two tours in Vietnam. In 1977, upon retirement from the USAF, Bob spent time as a police dispatcher in Belton, Missouri. He then spent the next 13 years with the Marine Corps Reserve Support Command in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, mother, and two sisters: Phyllis (Beason) Zerkel and Lorene (Beason) Myers, and uncle, Ora Cook. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Martha (Shively) Beason; his daughters: Pamela (Beason) Stansbury and Suzanne (Beason) Fristoe and husband Dewey; son, Robert Beason II and Sahar; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sharon Soma and her husband, John of Denver, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Longview Funeral Home in Kansas City, Missouri, on Saturday, August 13th, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Longview Cemetery. Friends and Family may call at the Longview Funeral Home on Friday, August 12, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
