Roberta Jean Dayberry, 87, passed away on the evening of June 23, 2026.

Roberta was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1939, in Kansas City, MO, to Andy Lee Chester Lakey and Eunice Danner Lakey. She was the second youngest of seven children. She met her husband, Willie, in the fall of 1957, and they were married on her birthday, Valentine’s Day, 1958. They were married for 55 wonderful years. During that marriage, they had three children. Michael, Richard and Carrie. She received her GED and attended multiple classes at Longview Community College while employed by the City of Kansas City, MO. She worked many years in numerous administrative positions including Loose Park Rose Garden, Parks and Recreation and operated the train at the Kansas City Zoo. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her two toy poodles. Her hobbies included collecting hats and butterflies.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband Willie, her son Richard, and her grandson, Cody. She is survived by her son, Michael (Kathy) and her daughter Carrie (Gerald), her grandchildren Sarah, Shane, Christopher, Jesse, Danny, Jefrey, David, Kristin, Jacob, Rebecca, and Ashley, several great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends.

A graveside service only and butterfly release will take place on July 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Longview Funeral Home and Cemetery. 12700 Raytown Road, Kansas City, MO 64149
