Ronald David Bennett, lovingly known as Ron, passed away on September 29, 2026, in Overland Park, Kansas. He was born on January 8, 1950, in Salem, Oregon.
Ron lived his life with a steady devotion to his faith, his family, and the people he loved. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and went on to spend 40 years working in Disability Insurance. Throughout his career, Ron valued relationships and found purpose in helping and serving others.
One of the greatest joys of Ron’s life was his marriage to the love of his life, Paulette. The two were introduced by Ron’s sister, Claudia, and went on to share 54 wonderful years of marriage, building a life together rooted in love, faith, family, and lasting commitment.
When Ron moved from Washington to Kansas City for work, he joined a men’s Bible study group that would remain an important part of his life until his death. The friendships and fellowship he found there reflected the quiet but enduring faith that guided him throughout his life.
Ron found happiness in the simple things that made life meaningful. He loved gardening and fishing and was a loyal fan of KU Basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs. But few things brought him greater joy than watching his grandchildren compete on game days. He loved being there to cheer them on and took great pride in each of them. At home, Ron also shared a special bond with Buddy, his lovable, fluffy Cavapoo and faithful companion.
Ron is survived by his daughters, Leslie Schultz and her husband, Nick, and Jennifer Truman and her husband, Bryan; his grandchildren, Jackson, Luke, Kate, Blake, and Lainie; his sister, Claudia Holstrom, and her husband, Ken; his niece, Hilarie Boswell, and her husband, Cameron; and his nephew, Jason Holstrom, and his wife, Angela. He is also survived by his great-nieces and great-nephews, Claire, Anna, Britton, Juniper, and Faye.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Paulette Bennett; his parents, Robert “Bob” Bennett and Nellie Pike Bennett; and his sister, Barbara Bennett.
Ron leaves behind a family deeply grateful for the life they shared with him and for the countless memories that will continue to bring comfort, laughter, and love in the years ahead.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, October 5, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Christ Community Church, Leawood Campus, 14200 Kenneth Rd., Leawood, Kansas 66224.
Ron will be remembered for his faithful heart, his devotion to his family, and the warmth and steadiness he brought to the lives of those around him. He loved deeply, lived faithfully, and found joy in being surrounded by the people who mattered most. His memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
