Ronald Barry Lewis was born on May 27, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri to Edward (who preceded him in death) and Joyce Lewis. His homegoing was on December 29, 2017. Ronald was 64 years old.

Ronald attended Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated in 1971. His love for football was evident and earned him the nickname of “Speedy” due to his speed and agility on the field. He continued to play touch football well into his forties.

Speedy served his country in the Navy after graduating from high school and received an honorable discharge.

He was employed with Major Cadillac for many years until health issues forced him to retire.

Ronald married Lillian Chapple on November 3, 1977 and the union lasted 40 years. He was blessed with three beautiful children – RaShonda S. Brownlee, Dwight A. and KaSinda K. Lewis and a host of grandchildren – Shontoria Sowell, Donovan Lewis, Dominic Lewis, Deion Russell, Denize Lewis Johnson, Malcom Murphy and one great grandchild, Maurice Jackson. Granddaughter TorShon Sowell preceded him in death.

Speedy leaves behind three sisters – Patricia (John) Wallace, Rose Lewis-Whitman, Verlalia Lewis and two brothers – Dwayne (Helen) Lewis and Michael (Rhonda) Lewis, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and three half siblings.
