Rosalia “Mamita” Carmona de Gonzalez, 86, of Raytown, MO, was called home on August 6th, 2025.
Rosalia was born in Riosucio, Colombia on January 27th, 1939. She moved with her family to Cali, Colombia at a young age and later immigrated to the United States in 1986. Rosalia became a U.S. citizen in 2014 and spent her remaining years living with her family in Raytown, MO.
A gifted seamstress, Rosalia used her skill to help support and raise her five children in Colombia. Once her family was settled in the U.S, Rosalia would utilize those same skills throughout her life to sew dresses for weddings and quinceañeras for her children, grandchildren, and friends of the family.
Aside from attending church, Rosalia loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Much of that time spent together was at family dances, cultural enrichment festivals, or at home sharing stories of her life in Colombia and stories of those in her family who came before her. It is in Rosalia’s honor that the family will continue to honor our traditions and celebrate our heritage together.
Rosalia is survived by her sons, Jose Gonzalez (Jessica), Martín Gonzalez (Monica), and Rodrigo Gonzalez; daughters Martha and Rosalia (Rola) Gonzalez; and one sister: Ana Carmona. Rosalia is preceded in death by her mother Esther Julia Carmona, sisters Oliva and Nelly Carmona, brother Arturo Carmona, and former husband Jose “Tony” Gonzalez.
A longtime parishioner at Our Lady of the Presentation Church in Lee’s Summit, Rosalia was loved and admired by all of her fellow parishioners. Showing tremendous devotion to her Catholic faith, Rosalia remained steadfast in her beliefs for her entire life. This devotion continues to inspire those she knew, setting an example for which we all follow.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Our Lady of the Presentation Hispanic Marian Group.
