Obituary

Roseann Swofford, of Raytown, MO passed away surrounded by loved ones on April 17th, 2026 after a short but valiant battle with gallbladder cancer.

Roseann was born on August 30th, 1945 with adoption at birth to Thomas and Cora Hayter in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1963.

She met the love of her life, Darrell Swofford in 1965 and the two exchanged vows on March 16th, 1966. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in March of this year.

The Swofford’s became parents in 1975 with the birth of a son, Dallas. Roseann chose to be a full-time, stay-at-home, Mom. Being a wife and Mom was her passion, and this carried on through her life as a grandmother and great-grandmother. That passion was obvious to her family and to everyone around them as she was always sure to attend every event, game, recital, and competition, essentially any activity where she could show support for her loved ones. She relished watching her oldest granddaughter, Dominique, do competitive cheerleading, along with taking her on trips and vacations all over for fun adventures. She encouraged and aided her grandson, Wyatt, as he became a multiple award-winning flutist in the State of Missouri and glowed with pride as he performed in marching band with his High School Band and the Honor Band of America, which included marching in the 2026 Rose Bowl Parade. Roseann loved watching her youngest granddaughter, Aerah, perform in All Star Cheer, nicknaming her “My Little Flipper” or “My Little Flyer”. Her two great-granddaughters, Addie and Callie, ages 7 and 3, respectively, have given great-grandma Roseann chills and thrills at dance recitals and tumbling lessons. She, Roseann Elizabeth, was honored when her first great-granddaughter was given the name, Adeliene Elizabeth, and her second great-grand-daughter was given the name, Calliope Rose. The love she had for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was matched only by the love they had for her.

While our hearts grieve and we will miss her greatly, we hold fast to the assurance that through our salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ, we will see her again.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation to the Kansas City Zoo in her name.

Roseann is survived by her husband, Darrell; her son, Dallas Swofford, and his wife, Brice; her three grandchildren, Dominique Strasburger and her husband, Benjamin, Wyatt Swofford, and Aerah Swofford; and her two great‑grandchildren, Adeliene and Calliope Strasburger.
