Rowena “Robbie” (Leimenstoll) Hampton, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 14, 2023, in Kansas City, Missouri at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Robbie and her husband, Archie Darrell Hampton, were long time residents at Foxwood Springs Senior Living in Raymore, Missouri and we would like to thank them for all their love and support especially the last few years.
She was born on January 25th, 1934, in Humboldt, Kansas to Leota (Maxwell) and John Robert Leimenstoll and was their only child. After graduating high school in Humboldt, she attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, and later Baker University where she met and married Billy Gene Wright. They had three children: William Kevin, Jon Stuart, and Chris Wright. They were divorced in 1974 and she married Archie Darrell Hampton in 1975.
She taught 2nd grade in the Shawnee Mission School District at several schools until her retirement.
She loved children and volunteered to help children read books at local schools in Raymore while living at Foxwood Springs. She also enjoyed going on Darrell’s woodworking adventures and assisting him at the Renaissance Festivals and local woodworking shows. She was also an avid bridge player and kept at it through her years at Foxwood.
Rowena was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jon Stuart Wright.
Rowena is survived by her sons William Kevin Wright (Karen Wright), Christopher Alan Wright (Mary E. Kelly), her grandchildren Amanda Osenga (Jeremy Osenga), Jarrod Wright, Simon Wright, Max Landen (Haley Landen), Spencer Kelly-Wright and Connor Kelly-Wright. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Jonathan Osenga, Wren Landen and Harold Landen. Her beloved dog, Sugar, also survived her and is now living with her son, Chris Wright.
