Obituary

Sandra Kay Flood, born on April 15, 1947, to parents Don and Evelyn Neff, in Washington, Iowa, departed peacefully from this world on April 9,2026, in Lee's Summit. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with warmth, kindness ,and an unyielding love for those around her.

Sandra's gentle spirit was evident to all who knew her. She carried a sweetness and kindness that made her a cherished friend and family member. Throughout her life, her affection for dogs shone brightly, especially for her beloved Pekingese, Tia, whose memory she treasured deeply. She devoted countless hours to watching her hometown teams, finding joy in cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs especially Patrick Mahomes and Derrick Thomas, and rooting enthusiastically for the Kansas City Royals, with a special fondness for Salvador "Salvy" Perez. NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart, races were a thrilling pastime as well, and she loved sharing many family trips to Chicago, delighting in cooking, excursions to Branson, and even the simple pleasures found at the gas station Buc-ee's.

Sandra's professional journey was marked by dedication and leadership. She worked as a Foreman at a Lawn Mower Manufacturer, where her strength and guidance inspired those around her. Yet, her life was not only about work but also rich in treasured moments with loved ones.

One particularly cherished memory she held dear was from her childhood in Iowa, when she and her older sister, Linda, would sled together at a snow-filled pool pit. These innocent ,joyful times carved lasting bonds and gentle laughs into her heart.

Sandra's home was filled with love thanks to her marriage to Charles Eugene "Bear" Flood. Their love story, sparked in a chance meeting at a bar, blossomed into a lifelong partnership full of quality time and shared happiness. Together, they created a life filled with warmth and companionship that was a beacon to all who knew them.

Sandra is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Charles Eugene "Bear" Flood; her sister Linda Sinn; her brother Donald Neff and his wife, Karen; brother-in-law Charles Forde; sisters-in-law Diane Kalahurka and her husband Jim, and Marlene Bukaty and her husband John; brother-in-law John Flood and his wife Beth; as well a a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. They carry forward the legacy of her love and generosity in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Evelyn (Smith) Neff; her sisters, Joyce Forde and Nancy Boock; and her brothers-in-law, Ed Sinn and Gene Boock.

A visitation to honor Sandra's memory will be held on Tuesday, April 14th from 1:00 to 2:00pm, at Longview Funeral Home, 12700 SE Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO64149. This will be followed by a funeral service from 2:00 to 3:00pm.at the same location. Burial will take place at Longview Cemetery, starting at 3:00pm.

Sandra Kay Flood leaves behind an enduring impression of kindness, laughter, and boundless love. In remembering her, we hold close the warmth of her smile, the strength of her spirit, and the gentle way she touched all our lives. Her memory will forever remain a blessing to those who knew and loved her.
