Sgt. Roy Brown Sr.

January 26, 1949 — February 17, 2022

Roy Junor Brown Sr., 73, of Grandview, Missouri passed away peacefully into the hands of the lord surrounded by his family on February 17, 2022, at his residence. Pastor Roy Brown Sr. was born into this world on January 26, 1949, in Lake Village, Arkansas to Abraham Fisher Sr. and Allean (Bailey) Brown. As a young child they relocated to Kansas City, Missouri. He Attended Manuel High School before joining the United States Army in 1966.

While in the Military he became a champion boxer. He retired in November 1975 as an Army Sergeant. He served as the associate pastor for Bread of Life Outreach Ministries in Kansas City, Kansas. He was a faithful mentor at Lansing Correctional Facility and an AA Sponsor. He went back to college where he earned a bachelor’s degree in theology in 2020. He loved his brims, being a blessing to others and above all he loved to serve God.

Roy was a devoted husband and family man. His Wife Edna was the light of his life and the family they built together was one of his many blessings.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents Abraham Fisher Sr., and Allean Bailey, sister Lavon Brown, sister Debra Adams, grandson Demond Brown and granddaughter Lyriq Brown.

He is survived by his loving wife Edna Brown, sisters Rose Robinson, Cheryl Fisher, Sheila Fisher, and Ella Mabry, brothers Frederick Johnson (Tobey), and Abraham Brown Jr. His children Ezell Ross III, Rachel Hurd, Roy J. Brown Jr., Ethel Hadnot (Corey), Ruth Brown, Abraham Brown (RaShaun), LaTanya Richardson, Tamekia Young (Preston), Chanita Major (Shawn), Willie McInnis, Felicia McInnis and a host of Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

Roy will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.

Services will be in the care of Longview Funeral Home and Cemetery. Visitation will be at Bread of Life Outreach Ministries-2510 Nebraska Ave. Kansas City, Kansas 66102 on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 9am followed by funeral at 10am. Burial will take place with Military honors at Leavenworth National Cemetery at 12:30pm.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery to be forwarded on to the family in Roy’s honor.
