Obituary

It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Sherri L. Coovert, who left us peacefully on June 26, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at Kansas City Hospice House. She was 64.

Born on October 24, 1961, in Keokuk, Iowa, Sherri was the beloved daughter of Jack J. and Dorothy L. Coovert. She grew up in Grandview, Missouri, and graduated from Grandview High School before earning her degree in computer science from DeVry University. Sherri carried her curiosity, intelligence, and dedication into every chapter of her life.

Sherri was exceptionally kind and endlessly grateful. She had a gentle way of making everyone around her feel valued, seen, and appreciated. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her nieces and nephews, whom she adored beyond measure. Her generous spirit, quiet strength, and warm presence were gifts she shared freely, and her family will forever hold her kindness and love in their hearts.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary staff at Kansas City Hospice House for their compassionate, peaceful, and tender care during Sherri’s transition from this life to the next.

We will gather to celebrate Sherri’s life on July 6, 2026, at Longview Funeral Home, 12700 Southeast Raytown Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64149. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM, and Burial at 3:00 PM.

Sherri was preceded in death by her loving parents, Jack J. and Dorothy L. Coovert. She is survived by her four siblings: Jack Eric Coovert (Casey), Connie Hagemann (John), Tom Coovert (Susan), and David Coovert (Yvette), along with numerous nieces and nephews. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, humility, and unwavering love.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Way-Side Waifs or KC Pet Project in Sherri’s honor.
