Shirley Newhouse

In loving memory of Shirley Newhouse, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many passed away on April 21, 2024. 

She was a devoted mother, a pillar of strength, and a source of inspiration to all who knew her. Shirley lived a life marked by love, resilience, and unwavering faith in God. Whether through her work, her friendships, or her family, she made a profound impact on those around her. Her support and guidance will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to experience it. A woman of deep faith, Shirley found strength and solace in her relationship with God. Her trust in His plan guided her through life's challenges and inspired those around her to find hope and comfort in their own faith.

Shirley was born on March 6, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Francis and Ruth Orscheln.  Shirley grew up in Richmond, MO and graduated from Richmond High School in 1969.  Shirley attended Central Missouri State University after high school and started her career in banking.   Throughout her remarkable career, Shirley achieved great success and made a profound impact and spent her entire career in banking, retiring from Bank of America. Her dedication, intelligence, and perseverance served as a testament to her remarkable character.  In retirement Shirley enjoyed working at Legacy Park Community Center in Lee’s Summit

Shirley is survived by her husband, Robert Newhouse; her daughter, Annie Steffes and her husband, Stephen; her granddaughters, Kate and Stella Steffes; and a brother, Frank Long.  She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Newhouse, and sister, Betty McFarland.

Shirley’s legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Shirley will be dearly missed by her loving family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness and grace.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at Longview Funeral Home on Monday, May 20^th, where we will honor her memory and give thanks for the blessing of having her our lives.  Visitation will be held from 10-11am, with a memorial service at 11am, followed by interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.
