Obituary

Thomas Glenn Koehly, 79 passed went home to our Lord peacefully on May 26, 2026 at St Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri of Cholangiocarcinoma.

Born on December 9th, 1946 to George and Marjorie Koehly of Independence, MO.

He graduated from Van Horn High School.

In 1965, where he met and married the love of his life, Cheryl Lynn (Rinehart) Koehly on December 23rd, 1966.

Tom was drafted to the Army in 1966. He served in Vietnam in 1967 in 1st Cav Jumping Mustangs, D Company. In 1968, he completed in Ft Carson, Colorado as Sergeant.

After returning he worked at Vendo Corp, then attended IBEW Electrical Apprenticeship for 4 years. He graduated as Journeyman with perfect attendance.

Tom and the love of his life and three children moved to Lake Lotawana, Missouri in 1977, where they made many memories with their children and grandchildren.

Tom enjoyed water skiing, boating, and swimming. He loved watching and cheering our 3 children, play football, softball, track, volleyball, wrestling. He and his children loved the Lotawana Ski Club and participated in shows together. When he retired, he enjoyed attending Vietnam Reunions with Jumping Mustangs. He loved being Snowbirds to Mesa, Arizona and loved dancing and meeting and making wonderful friends from all over the US and Canada.

He especially enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.

He was blessed to get to say goodbye to the entire family.

Tom is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years Cheryl Rinehart Koehly, sister DeLois Rinehart, brother Dan Koehly, his daughters Mischele Rash, Melisa Burzinski, his son, Thomas Koehly II, and his grandchildren Hana Rash, Faith Rash Bell, Derek Bell, Elijah Rash, Cayli Rash, Noah Rash, Addy Burzinski, and Ryker Burzinski.

There will be a graveside Service at Longview Cemetery and Funeral Home on June 4th at 1:00 PM and a Celebration of Life at Lake Lotawana Community Club, June 12th from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you make a contribution to Oak Tree Church or St. Luke’s Hospice House.
