Tanya Sue (Ragusa) Green, 74, passed away unexpectedly July 29, 2026 in Kansas City, MO and was a beloved wife, mother, nana and friend. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Tanya was born on September 6, 1951 in Kansas City, MO to Anthony and Dorothy Janice Ragusa. She was raised in Independence and graduated from Raytown High School in 1969. She started work at Central Bag Company, which began her career, eventually leading her to work in administrative work at Black & Veatch, and as office manager for her husband’s chiropractic business.

Tanya married James Green on September 6, 1987, her 36th birthday, on the back of the Missouri River Queen Riverboat on the Missouri river. They enjoyed nearly 40 birthday/anniversary celebrations after, and loved traveling to Mexico, Hawaii, and Lake Powell during their marriage, among other memorable vacations with friends and family.

Tanya was an avid cook, making even the most difficult recipes with ease. She’d regularly say “Mangia! Mangia!” at family meals, dishing up her famous lasagna, sugu and meatballs, ham and beans, Italian steaks or mac & cheese. No one ever left her house without at least one to-go container. Her family also remembers her love of spoiling her kids and grandkids with their favorites, whether it be soupbasta when they were sick, peas when only one person liked them, or her famous fudge and cookies at Christmas. If food was a love language, she spoke it fluently.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Dr. James Green of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, sons Joseph Treccariche (Teresa) and Dominick Treccariche (Brianna), stepchildren Lindsay Evans (Ryan) and Adam Green, and grandchildren Anthony Treccariche, Nathan Treccariche, Joshua Treccariche, Kaitlyn Treccariche, Jacob Treccariche, Gavin Evans, Bennett Evans, Jonathan Green, Kayleigh Green, Colette Green, and Claire Green. She is also survived by her sister, Emily (Ragusa) Courtney, as well as numerous other friends and extended family members who adored her.

Tanya was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Dorothy Janice Ragusa, and sister Maria (Ragusa) Canfield.

Tanya’s life will be celebrated with family at a later date. Please honor her memory by making a meal for your friends and family to enjoy together.
