Troy Shankles Sr.

Troy E. Shankles, Sr., 85, of Grandview, Missouri passed away on May 13, 2017.
Troy was born on June 21, 1931 to Lewis and Leona Shankles in Dekalb County, Alabama. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, receiving a purple heart for his service. Troy continued with the Army Corps of Engineers for 20 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. Troy leaves a legacy of being known as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Troy was preceded in death by wife, Velta, of 56 years; his son, Michael Shankles; his grandson, Dennis Spencer; and his 2 sisters: Vernie and Bea. He is survived by his children: Debbie (John) Spencer, Greg Shankles, Jeffery (Kate) Shankles, Troy Shankles, Jr., Byron Shankles, Stacy (Ramiro) Noboa; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his sisters: Linda Blalock and Reba Long.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 19th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, and a funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 20th at 11:00 am at Longview Funeral Home, 12700 S Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO 64149. Interment will follow in Longview Cemetery.
