Vida Arnold

Vida Evelyn Arnold, age 85, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away September 15, 2018.

Vida was born August 3, 1933 in Carthage, Missouri to Delmer and Myrl (Smith) Castor. Vida married Billy Joe Greathouse October 14, 1951 and the couple had five children before divorcing.

Vida and Bill Arnold were married on June 5, 1970 and together they raised their blended family of nine children. The family now includes 8 children, 35 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Vida devoted her life to her family. After the children were all grown and away from home, her Sunday dinners for the family to come home to were legendary. She loved setting back and watching her family enjoy a dinner that she had spent all morning preparing.

Vida was preceded in death by her father, Delmar Castor; mother, Myrl (Smith) Castor; brothers: Wayne Castor and Elvis Castor; and step-son, Daryl Arnold. She is survived by her husband, Bill; children: Sheryl (Greathouse) Hartman, Vivian (Arnold) Workman, Debra (Arnold) Rader, Cathy (Greathouse) Bruce, Karen (Arnold) White, Carol (Greathouse) Cutting, Anita (Greathouse) Clifford and son, Brent Greathouse plus grandchildren, great-children and great-great grandchildren.  Vida is also survived by two sisters: Maxine Lambeth and Lora Lee Sundy; sister-in-laws, Reta Castor, Linda Castor and Darlene Jerome plus many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Longview Funeral Home, 12700 S Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO 64149 on September 20, 2018 at 1 p.m. with a visitation at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Longview Cemetery.
