William Casey Byrnes

January 20, 1947 - December 23, 2025

Casey passed away peacefully Tuesday December 23rd at 4:25am at Princeton Senior Living, Memory Care surrounded by family. His wife Patty, daughter Missy, sons, Casey & Connor, grandchildren Cassidy & Colin & his son in law Troy. They had spent the day & evening sharing memories & watching some of Casey’s favorite movies like Christmas vacation.

Casey was born January 20,1947 in Edina Minnesota to Thomas Martin Byrnes and Elizabeth Helene Casey Byrnes of Minnesota. He was a few months premature weighing under a pound at birth. He had to stay in the hospital until he came home on St. Patty’s Day of that year. His Irish luck prevented him from any serious long term effects from his early birth.

Casey went to Campion Jesuit Boarding School in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin for High School & Rockhurst College in KCMO, where he graduated with a BSBA in 1969. He was also a devout Catholic who truly cherished his religion & enjoyed spreading the word of God & learning about all of the saints.

It was while attending Rockhurst College that Casey met the love of his life & future wife Patty Borchert.

After graduating college, Casey & Patty were married on July 26,1969 at St. Elizabeth’s Church where Patty had been a parishioner since she was baptized. He then joined the Army & went through Basic & Officer Training. In 1970 he became a father for the first time welcoming his daughter Missy. He was stationed at Ft. Hood Military Base near Killeen, Texas. Where he served as a Sergeant until he was honorably discharged in 1972 & moved with his wife Patty & daughter Missy back to KCMO. Later that year he was blessed with his first son Casey jr.

Casey worked as a repair man for Healthco Dental Company after returning from Texas & then went on to become a Dental Sales Representative. He worked For Healthco, Sandler & Sons & around 1982 he went to Goetze Dental where he was the top salesman for many years. He also put together many of the Dental Mission Trips to Honduras & Venezuela to set up the equipment & take toys to the kids in the orphanages. He loved working with his clients & people in general. In 1986 Casey & Patty were blessed with their third child Connor.

In 1988 Casey & Patty moved the family to Lee’s Summit Missouri & joined Our Lady of the Presentation Parish. He continued working until 2015 when he retired from Goetze & lived the rest of his life doing what he did best. Being a caring, fun loving husband, father & grandfather.

Casey was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Martin & Elizabeth Helene Byrnes; brothers Marty & Dennis Byrnes; in laws Robert & Joan Byrnes; brothers in-law James Borchert, Jim Johnson, & Gary O’Niell; sister in-law Barb Borchert.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Patricia Byrnes; children Missy (Troy), Casey (Lynn),Connor (Danielle); grandchildren Cassidy (Cameron), Kylie, Colin, Caydence, Harper, Fallyn, Naomi & Eli; sisters Mary, Marguerite(George) & Ann; in-laws Mary Johnson & Ron Korte & many many nieces, nephews & great nieces & nephews.
