William Smith

William L. Smith, 82, of Archie, passed away October 29, 2020. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Monday, November 2 at Longview Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at noon. Burial will follow in Longview Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born on October 6, 1938 in Louisburg, KS, to Ernie and Billy (Staton) Smith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and was the “Hummingbird Whisperer.” He also made the best pancakes. The neighborhood kids called him Mr. Bill; he never met a stranger.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jim Smith and Dick Smith. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; six sons and daughters; many grandchildren; and his beloved Yorkie, Casey.
