William "Bill" Kemp

August 25, 1946 — June 19, 2016

KEMP William “Bill” J. Kemp, 69, of Grandview, passed on June 19th.

Born to Woodrow “Woody” and Roberta Kemp of Winona, KS. Bill was raised on a small farm in western Kansas. He graduated from Fort Hays State University where he was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity.  He married Judy Anderson Kemp, his wife for 48 years, and moved to Grandview, MO. Bill was an elementary physical education teacher for 33 years at Warford Elementary in Kansas City, MO. Mr. Kemp was a beloved member of Hickman Mills School district and upon his retirement in 2001 they honored his service by dedicating the auditorium the “Bill Kemp Arena”.  Bill spent his retirement fishing for crappie and bass at Longview Lake and traveling to exotic locations with Judy and his children. He was an avid sports enthusiast and life-long Royals and Chiefs fan. He will always be remembered for his kindness and sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes and stories. He was a beloved father and grandfather and is survived by his wife, Judy Kemp, Grandview, MO; his three children: Laurie Cox (Craig), Topeka, KS; Dusty Kemp (Keri), Birmingham, AL; and Casey Kemp, Grandview, MO; and grandchildren: Reid Fehr, Kylie Cox and Trent Cox of Topeka, KS.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25th, at Longview Funeral Home, 12700 SE Raytown Rd, Kansas City MO 64149, there will be a viewing from 9:00 – 10:00 am, but not a formal visitation. Interment will follow in Longview Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to: Warford Elementary’s PTA in Mr. Kemp’s name.
