William "Bill" Ward Jr.

William L. “Bill” Ward Jr., 78, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, died on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born August 25, 1940, in Kansas City, MO to the late William L. Sr. and Celestine (Pfiefer) Ward.

Bill proudly served in the U.S. Air Force after high-school and then earned a Bachelors Degree from Central Missouri State University where he met the love of his life Linda Rothen. After graduation he worked as a Safety Engineer for Berkshire Hathaway companies for many years until his retirement. He loved camping in Colorado with his family; panning for gold and enjoying all the beauty of God’s creations.

Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda; their children: Jill (Shawn) Jones, Jason (Laura) Ward and Emily Ward; his grandchildren: Dylan, Garrett, Braden Kinsley and Gavin. He is also survived by his sister, Mary (Howard) Scott and his faithful companion, Willie.

In addition to his parents Bill is preceded in death by his son, Spencer Ward.

A gathering of friends and family will be Friday, May 10, 2019, beginning at 1 PM; a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1:30 PM all at Longview Funeral Home, 12700 SE Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO.
