Deana "Frankie" Fotopoulos

September 6, 1950 — August 4, 2022

After extended illnesses, a caring, kind and loving soul, Frankie Deana Fotopoulos, died Aug. 4, 2022, in Belton, Missouri.

A 1968 graduate of Ponca City Senior High School, Deana received a B.A. in Education from Central State College (now Central State University) in Edmond, Oklahoma, in 1973, joining the faculty of the Tonkawa, Oklahoma, high school. She then brought great organizational skills and attention to detail to employers in Ponca City and Blackwell before moving to the Kansas City area, where she retired from Honeywell. Working in the security division, she always made sure that retiring employees received a good send-off, planning many a retirement party.

A great fan of film and TV shows circa 1950 - 1970, Deana could readily tell you various dates, actor/TV show/film names and trivia related to entertainment of that period. She was skilled at embroidery and enjoyed other crafts. She also was the keeper of the family history, preserving birth certificates, marriage licenses and photos. Deana created a sweet home that she and her father built together, and she enjoyed being a good custodian of the property and keeping up with yardwork in her retirement until illness interrupted her routine.

Deana cared for her mother, Katherine Fotopoulos, until her death in 1991, and then for her father, Frank Fotopoulos, until his death in 2002. She was a loved sister to her older sister, Paula, and her younger sister, Maria.

Deana is survived by her sister, Paula Williams, brother-in-law Terry Williams, nephews David and Jim Williams, and great-niece Rachel Williams, as well as her sister, Maria Fotopoulos, brother-in-law John Branch and their cat colony, including Emma, Callie, Lucy, DeLyon, Popsicle the Magnificent, Alfie the Great, The Count, Tigger, Whitey and Ms. Z.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider donating to the Sjögren’s Foundation, the Arthritis Foundation, the National Scleroderma Foundation, the Raynaud’s Association, the Save our Monarchs Foundation or the Albert Schweitzer Foundation in the name of Frankie Deana Fotopoulos.
