Mary McClain

January 4, 1949 — September 8, 2021

Mary Theresa McClain, 72, of Raytown went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 8, 2021.  A private graveside service will be held at Longview Cemetery.  A celebration of life service will be held at Lee’s Summit Academy on Saturday, September 18, at 1 PM, and is open to all.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Samaritan’s Purse or directly to the family to help with medical costs.

Mary was born on January 4 in Norton, Kansas to Lawrence and Theresa Mendoza.  She was a graduate of Turner High School.  Mary met her husband, Mark, through his parents who attended her church, and they were married in 1978.

Mary worked at a local Christian radio station, where she was known as “Miss Maryweather”.  She announced the weather and always ended her segment with, “All your days can be sunny when you know the Lord.”  After having children, she became a stay-at-home mom.  Mary volunteered at the House of Hope and Healing, where she had the opportunity to pray and intercede for thousands of people.  She would also regularly visit hospitals to pray for the sick.  She was known for her love of flowers, taking pictures, having a smile on her face, and being a powerful prayer warrior.  Mary has impacted countless lives through the sharing her unwavering faith.  She was a strength and encouragement to everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brother David Mendoza.  She is survived by her husband, Mark Stephen McClain; children Jonathan McClain (Andrea), Jason McClain (Lacy), and Merry McClain (Chris Gerdeman); grandchildren Lydia, Gabe, Micah, Cameron, Mariah, and Jason “JJ” Huskey; sisters Elizabeth Valencia and Marguerite Peresko; as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, other family and friends.
