Morgan Eiken

Ms. Morgan Paige Eiken age 26, of Merriam, Kansas, passed away on April 26, 2021.  Services will be held on May 8th at Longview Funeral Home 12700 Southeast Raytown Road, Kansas City, MO 64149.  Visitation will be held at 10:00 am – 12:00 immediately followed by Funeral and grave-side Services.  Burial Services will be held at a later date at Longview Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to and all benefits will be contributed to: Support McLean Hospital - Give Now for Mental Health Research.

Ms. Eiken was born in 1994 to Brian and Abby Eiken in Blue Springs, MO.  She graduated from Blue Springs High School in 2013 and earned her bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Missouri Kansas City preceded by three years of study at The University of Minnesota.  Morgan has often been described as a person of the sweetest heart and the kindest soul.  She had the kind of spirit that could light up a room and a heart made of gold.  She had a deep love for animals especially cats.  Morgan spent a great deal of time before and after college volunteering in cat shelters.  Morgan also loved musicals and attended as many live productions that she could in Kansas City, New York, Chicago, and she never missed an opportunity (some might say an excuse) to get back to Minneapolis for a show and lunch at Bahn Mi.  Morgan loved to travel especially if the destination had a thriving arts scene and museums.

If there is one indelible feature that Morgan possessed, it had to be her incredible sense of humor.  Whether she was breaking a awkward silence, calming a tense situation, or just pointing out the subtle ridiculousness of a situation, one could always follow the laughter to find her.

Morgan was recognized early in life as having an “old soul.” She loved having birthday parties, camping out with her friends and family on her Grandma and Grandpa Foster’s farm.  Weeks before the event, she would be telling her friends how awesome her grandparents were and how much fun they were going to have at the campout. Her personal hero was her Grandpa Eiken and even as a small child could be seen sitting on a counter stool in a diner having coffee and pie with him.  Morgan would often proudly claim that she had “grandma’s Eiken’s disease” because she had inherited the trait of mentioning everyone’s name other than the one, she was thinking of.

Morgan will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and her cat, Lady Remington.  The world was a better place because of her in it and will require much more kindness from each of us to make up for the loss.
