Rachel VanVelsan

Rachel Nadine VanVelsan, 36, of Independence, Missouri passed away on Tuesday March 1, 2022. Rachel was born in Lee's Summit, Missouri to Randy & Nancy (Doyle) VanVelsan, on October 21, 1985.

Throughout Rachels short time here on Earth she was a kind soul, always putting others before herself. She had a heart of gold and was very generous to all. She always made time to anyone who needed her, but her greatest joy in life was being a mother to Desmond and Ryland who were her world. Raising her boys with the love of her life, Gabriel, was everything to her. They brought her the greatest joys..

She was very fun and spontaneous while staying very down to Earth. She loved to beat her brother in a mean game of pool or her fiancé in laser tag. She always planned activities for her family. She was fearless and taught her boys to go and be anything they wanted. Rachel was a shining star and the love and passion she gave the world was her greatest gift. Her legacy will live on forever in the ones who love her.

Rachel was preceded in death by her grandparents: Ormonde Doyle, Rachel Doyle, Marvel Gray, and Jack VanVelsan; uncles: George (Debbie) Doyle, David Doyle;  aunt Jackie Taylor.

She is survived by her parents: Randy and Nancy VanVelsan; fiancé: Gabriel Silva; children: Desmond and Ryland Silva; brother: Jack VanVelsan; sisters: Michelle VanVelsan, Angie Thomas; and nieces and nephews: Kaylee, Kaydence, Paige, Kurt, Adelina, Ella, Adien, and Billie Jean.

Rachel will be truly missed by many other family and friends who knew her.

Services for Rachel will be in the care of Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery- 12700 SE Raytown Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64149 on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, with Visitation from 1-3pm followed by the funeral at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Rachel's honor to the Children's Mercy Hospital.
