Richard Morris

Richard S. Morris, 74, of Grandview, Missouri, passed away December 31, 2019.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Coronation of Our Lady Church, Grandview, with visitation at 9:30am.  Private inurnment will take place at Longview Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Brookdale Hospice.

Richard was born on September 8, 1945 in West Frankfort, IL to Harry S. and Catherine (Hill) Morris.  He grew up in Benton, IL and was a 1963 graduate of Benton High School.  He received his undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University and his master’s degree from the University of Missouri.  After graduation, Richard moved to Kansas City to begin working for Bendix (later Honeywell) where he retired after 35 years of service.

Richard enjoyed the outdoors:  especially fishing, snow skiing, motorcycling, hunting, and coaching Little League baseball, basketball, and football.  He attended Coronation of Our Lady Church in Grandview with his wife, JoDee.

Richard is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, JoDee Morris; his children:  Jill Vinke (husband Jeff) of Kingsville, MO; Mark Morris (wife Laura) of Peculiar, MO; and James Morris (wife Brynn) of Loch Lloyd, MO; grandchildren:  Trey and Ali Vinke, Amanda and Abagail Armstrong, and Max, Marissa, and Makayla Morris.

Above all else, Richard was known for being a hard worker who would give up everything for his family and did everything to provide for them.  He loved his family deeply and will be greatly missed.
