Stephen Douglas Sackrider, 67, of Kansas City, MO passed away on April 5, 2020. Stephen was born on September 14, 1952 in Kansas City MO to George and Laura (Teeter) Sackrider. Stephen enjoyed working with his hands, which lead to his career and a maintenance man working for multiple apartment complexes. In 1973, he joined the U.S. Army where he served for 4 years, and then another two years in the Army Reserve. Stephen had many pastimes and hobbies including; black powder shooting, fishing, watching grandkids sports, K-State/KU basketball, and the KC Royals and Chiefs; studying history, getting involved with his grandson's scouting activities, and traveling with his family, especially to Colorado. Stephen is preceded in death by his parents and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 22 years, Deborah; children, Shelly Sackrider Mattes, Lisa Sackrider, and Matt Patterson; grandchildren, Blake, Aubrey, Conner, Christopher, Noelle, Ja'Van, and Kennedy; siblings, Ed (Serena) Sackrider and Sandy (Mike) Palis; sister-in-law’s, Jackie (Doug) Kirby and Tina Frentrop; brother-in-law, Richard Frentrop; many nieces, nephews and his beloved dog, Gizmo.
A private graveside service will be held on April 8, 2020 at Longview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
