WIlliam Milborn

William Leon Milborn, 91, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away on January 24, 2021. Bill, as he was known by many, was born on May 13, 1929 in Elkhart, Indiana to William M. and Lillian L. (Mellott) Milborn. In 1952, Bill joined the United States Airforce, where he served as a pilot for six years. While in the military, he married the love of his life, Jeannette Smith Killingsworth, on August 28, 1954. From this marriage they had three children. After his time in the service he began his career in food service management and worked for various hospitals and health institutes. Bill was a very creative and driven man. He spent much of his free time painting, crafting jewelry, and had even written and published six books. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette; and son, Jimmy Lee Milborn. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his daughters, Terri Milborn and Carolyn Fischer; grandchildren; Brenda and Jerry Milborn, Julie Landis and Jana Ogi; his great grandchildren and many extended family and friends. A graveside service will be held at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville on Thursday, January 28th at 1:00pm.
